How do 070 numbers work?

070 phone numbers route your calls to your personal phone numbers you supply, when somebody phones you on your 070 number then their call is diverted to one or more of your phone numbers this can include landlines and mobile phones.  070 phone numbers are classed as "Follow Me / Call hunt" phone numbers, as if there is no answer on the first phone number then the telephone call can be re-directed to up to another two phone numbers!

URGENT NOTIFICATION

Ofcom (The UK Telecoms Regulator) recently made changes to the way calls to 070 Personal Numbers are handled.

Ofcom have regulated that carriers must play a FREE TO AIR MESSAGE similar to: "You have dialed a personal number which starts 070. This is not a mobile number. 070 calls from BT cost up to 50p per minute or a fixed fee of up to 51p, charges from other operators mobiles or payphones may vary. You have not been charged for this message"   This is taken care of by the carrier who routes the phone calls so no need to worry about people not knowing what the call costs.
